Learning to drive can often seem a confusing and complicated process; particularly with the numerous forms that need to be completed and the vast amounts of learner driver information you need to remember.
This part of the test comprises of multiple choice questions covering different aspects of driving, and other related issues. Most of the required information can be found in publications such as the Highway Code and the Essential Driving Skills, a book published by the driving standards agency. The theory test is a 50-question multiple-choice test. To pass you must answer 43 or more questions correctly within 57 minutes.

This part of the driving test is approximately 35-40 minutes in length. It requires the candidate to show that they have a sound knowledge of the highway code, and also show that they have the ability to drive on various types of road, whether they be in town centre, urban or rural areas, and in different conditions. The candidate will also be required to perform two slow reversing manoeuvres , they may also be asked to carry out an emergency stop. To be successful you must not commit more than 15 minor driving faults.
Eye sight check
You will be required to read a vehicle registration number plate at a distance
of approximately 20.5 meters, failure to read the number plate at the required
distance will result in no test been conducted, your test fee will also be forfeited.
Safety check
This part of the test, sometimes known as show me/tell me, requires the candidate to
carry out basic safety checks on the vehicle. There are two questions to answer correctly.
You are most likely to be involved in an accident in your first two years of passing your test. Mostly because of inexperience of driving. Passing your driving test is just the start of learning to drive.
Pass Plus was introduced to help. Its a short driving course aimed at building up your skills and experience with no test at the end.
You will get a certificate once you finish and this will entitle you to a discount off your car insurance, normally equalling one years no claims bonus (call for participating insurance companies).
These extra driving lessons give you the extra valuable experience at a time when you're more likely to have an accident, and the cost of the course is easily covered by the amount you save on car insurance!
